Another Mumbai cop succumbs to coronavirus, tally rises to 43
Another personnel of Mumbai Police succumbed to coronavirus on Sunday, taking the total toll in the city police force to 43.
According to officials, the latest fatality was an Assistant Sub-Inspector posted in the general department of Bhoiwada police station.
The 43-year-old lost his month-long battle with COVID-19 infection on Sunday. He was a resident of Naigaon police quarters and had been on leave since April 28.
Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Mumbai spiked by 1,201 on Monday, taking the total case count to over 85,000.
The pandemic has claimed the lives of 4,935 people in the city to date.
