A private coaching class owner and teacher was stabbed to death in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar area on Sunday by an ex-employee.

According to reports, the accused Ganesh Pawar was recently fired by Mayank Mandop, the owner of a private coaching centre in Ghatkopar. The accused had worked at Mayank’s coaching centre for two months.

On Sunday, Ganesh came to collect his salary at the coaching centre. During his visit, the two had an argument and an angry Ganesh allegedly attacked his ex-boss with a chopper.

“At around 6:30 pm, Ganesh allegedly barged in (to the coaching centre) and attacked Mayank with a chopper,” senior police officer Laxmi Gautam was quoted as saying.

“He was fired from services a few days ago, following which he killed him,” S Bhalerao, senior police inspector told media persons.

After killing the 35-year-old, Ganesh also injured himself, for which he was taken to a hospital.

A case was later registered against him and he was subsequently placed under arrest. The body, meanwhile, has been sent for postmortem.

Further investigation in the case is underway.
