Diesel rate unchanged in last 2 days, petrol up by 6 paise in Mumbai

In a welcome change, but far from offering any real respite, the prices of diesel remained unchanged for the second day in Mumbai on Thursday.
According to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers, the price of diesel remained stagnant today, while that of petrol was hiked by 6 paise in Mumbai and New Delhi.
After the revision, petrol is retailing at Rs 89.60 per litre and diesel at Rs 78.42 per litre in Mumbai today.
Meanwhile, in New Delhi, the petrol price has been increased to Rs.82.22 per litre and diesel is retailing at Rs 73.87.
The price of both petrol and diesel had remained unchanged on Wednesday as a result of steady global oil prices amid concerns over a shortfall in supply once US sanctions on Iran come come into effect.
A combination of a dip in rupee value against the US dollar and rise in crude oil prices has led to a spike in pump prices since mid-August. The rupee has lost over 13 percent, and crude has gained 35 percent, since the beginning of this year.
