At least seven shops were gutted after a massive fire broke out in a metal workshop located between Mumbai’s Dockyard Road and Reay Road areas around midnight on Tuesday.
The fire, which started in one of the shops, was doused after an hour of fire fighting. Six fire tenders and four water tankers were rushed to the spot to overcome the blaze.
Fire department is not ruling out the possibility of a cylinder blast or short circuit as the probable cause of fire. An official statement about the exact cause, however, will only be made after a thorough investigation into the matter.
No casualties were reported in the fire. (Visuals of the blaze)
