Dr. Payal Tadvi suicide: All 3 accused doctors arrested, to be produced in court today
Mumbai Police have arrested all three accused lady doctors in connection with the abetment of suicide of Nair Hospital’s resident doctor Payal Tadvi.
Two of the accused, Hema Ahuja and Ankita Khandelwal, were nabbed early in the day by Agripada police while their colleague Bhakti Meher was arrested from sessions court on Tuesday evening.
The trio has been accused of alleged ragging, casteist atrocities, mental harassment and professional torture leading to the suicide of a second year Post-Graduate Gynaecology student Tadvi, at the state-run BYL Nair Hospital in Mumbai on May 22.

The accused three, who were suspended by the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) and later by the BMC, have also filed for anticipatory bail application which would come up before the court later in the day.
Tadvi’s mother, Abeda Tadvi who is leading the agitation seeking justice for her daughter, plans to challenge the pre-arrest bail pleas, her lawyer Nitin Satpute told reporters.
Tadvi belonged to the Adivasi Tadvi Bhil community and was the first in her family to pursue a medical degree. Her husband Salman and mother have demanded “strictest action” against the three women doctors.
Earlier this week, the Maharashtra State Commission for Women, taking suo moto cognisance of the matter, had issued a notice to Dean of the BYL Nair Hospital seeking a report on the action taken in the case.
