Fire breaks out in building at Pratiksha Nagar in Sion, Mumbai's second in 6 hours

Mumbai continues to witness a spree of fire related incidents in the new year, with yet another fire mishap reported in Pratiksha Nagar in Mumbai’s Sion area on Friday evening.


According to preliminary information, the fire broke out in one of the flats in a residential building at Pratiksha Nagar, Sion Koliwada in Sion today evening. While sources suggest that the building is a MHADA one, it could not be independently verified as of publishing this report.


Fire department was immediately alerted about the mishap and at least two fire engines and a water tanker were dispatched to the spot. Fire fighting is still underway and cause of fire is not yet known. Further details regarding casualties are awaited.


This is the second fire related incident reported in the city today. Earlier, a blaze had engulfed the basement of six-storey Jia Apartment building near Near Anjuman Girls High School in Mumbai Central. Fortunately, no one was injured in the mishap.
