Fire breaks out ceremonial lounge of Mumbai domestic airport in Santacruz
A fire broke out at the ceremonial lounge of terminal 1A at Mumbai domestic airport in Santacruz on Saturday afternoon.
According to preliminary information, the fire broke around around 1:45 pm, following which fire department was alerted. At least three in-house water jets were pressed into service by the time fire officials arrived with additional fire engines and water tankers.
The fire, which was escalated to Level II at 2:04 pm and to Level III at 2:41 pm, was confined to the electrical wiring, false ceiling and furniture of the 5,000 sq.ft conference room area.
The blaze, which has been doused as of publishing this report, did not lead to any casualties or affect operations in any way. The cause of fire, however, is still not known and further details are awaited.
