Charly Tastet accidentally fell from an open duct area of his flat on the ninth floor of ‘The Residence Greenscape’ building in Navi Mumbai, officials said

A French national fell to his death from the ninth floor of a residential building in Navi Mumbai on Sunday morning.

According to officials, Charly Tastet fell from an open duct area of his flat on the ninth floor of ‘The Residence Greenscape’ building, located at Sector 46A in Nerul, Navi Mumbai. The 29-year-old lived there with his wife Tanaya Thakur.

When Tanaya could not find her husband in the morning, she went looking for him. While searching the house, she entered the dry area attached to the washroom and looked down the duct, where she found Tastet’s body lying a few floors below.

“He was rushed to hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Prima facie, it seems to be an accident. He was not in an inebriated condition at the time,” an official said.

The dry area has a four-by-five feet duct which is not secured by any safety grill.

“We have not found any foul play. Tastet was living in India for the past two-three years. We have registered an accidental death report,” senior inspector Tanveer Sheikh of NRI Coastal police station said.

Tastet had moved into the apartment a few months back after he was recruited as a sales manager with a Spanish firm.
