IIT-B student arrested from Thane for secretly filming people bathing
A 34-year-old, pursuing higher education at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IIT-B), was arrested on Saturday for allegedly filming people bathing.
According to officials, the accused, Avinash Kumar Yadav, would allegedly place his mobile phone near the bathroom windows of his residential building in Thane and secretly record people bathing.
He was arrested after one of the residents, a woman, found a mobile phone on her bathroom window while she was taking a shower on Friday night.
The woman immediately alerted her husband, who confiscated the phone. Yadav, however, fled before he could be caught.
He was later nabbed by other residents and handed over to officials from Kapurbawdi police station, who booked him under section 354 (any man who watches or captures the image of a woman engaging in a private act in circumstances where she would usually have the expectation of not being observed) of the Indian Penal Code.
Yadav’s phone contained several bathing clips of men and women, all of whom resided in the same building.
