
Man dies after falling into elevator shaft at Chunabhatti highrise

A 45-year-old technician died after falling into the elevator shaft from the 15th floor of a residential tower in Mumbai’s Chunabhatti area on Monday.
According to officials, Ketan Bahirat was part of a team of two undertaking maintenance activities of an elevator at tower number two of Continuum Complex, Central Garden – commonly referred to by locals as Reliance Building.
While carrying out work, Bahirat fell into the elevator shaft at around 4 pm. His co-worker then informed the residents, who in turn alerted cops and Mumbai Fire Brigade.
Fire Brigade personnel brought out Bahirat from the lift shaft and rushed him to civic-run Sion Hospital where medical authorities declared him dead on arrival.
An Accidental Death has been registered at Chunabhatti police station and a probe into the incident is underway.
