Student injured after school bus rams into car at Ghodbunder Road, Thane
At least one student was injured after a school bus rammed into a private vehicle at Ghodbunder Road in Thane on Thursday morning.
According to preliminary information, the incident took place around 8:30 am when the school bus ferrying students rammed into a Hyundai i10 near Brahmand junction.
Due to the peak hour rush at the busy junction, the Hyundai car was subsequently hit by another car and an auto-rickshaw.
At least one student sustained injuries in the mishap and was shifted to a nearby private hospital. Details about his present condition are awaited.
Sources say the bus driver was speeding when the accident took place, although authorities are yet to confirm if the accident was caused due to his negligence.
Traffic movement on the road is hampered as the school bus has blocked most part of the road. However, officials from Kasarwadavali Police Station are currently on the spot and work on removing the stalled bus is underway.
Update (11:10 am)
RDMC officials have confirmed that the accident involved a tempo, a school bus and two cars. Prima facie, it appears that the tempo rammed into Arunodaya Public School bus.
Further, three school children (Arjun, Arjit and Shreya) sustained minor injuries and were shifted to Titan Hospital in Manpada.
Traffic movement on the road is still affected.
