Video: NBA brings ‘floating’ basketball court to Mumbai
Ahead of its first-ever game in the country, the NBA brought the ‘Floating Basketball Court’ to the Arabian Sea near Bandra Worli Sealink in Mumbai on Wednesday.
According to reports, the floating basketball court is the latest initiative of the NBA to get India excited about basketball.
Earlier on Wednesday, some sports enthusiasts enjoying playing basketball on the floating court. Also present was NBA legend Jason Williams, who was part of the 2006 NBA winning team.
Giving tips to youngsters, Williams said they just got to work hard as kids from all over the world are getting better at the game.
“You just got to work hard and you have to dedicate all your time to it. Kids from all over the world are getting better at basketball every day and India is maybe a couple of steps behind everyone else but it does not mean they cannot catch up,” Williams told ANI.
NBA India on December 20, 2018, had announced that the first-ever NBA game in the country would be organised in October in Mumbai.
The NBA India Games 2019 will feature the Sacramento Kings and Indiana Pacers, who will play two pre-season games on October 4 and 5 at the Dome, NSCI, SVP Stadium.
“There is a lot of potential to grow (for basketball in India) and these two NBA teams coming to play here the two pre-season games will only make that process a little faster,” the 43-year-old Williams was quoted as saying.
BookMyShow, in association with AEG, is handling the ticket sales for the games. The ticket prices are expected to be in the range of Rs 4,500 to Rs 85,000.
