At least four people were injured and eight vehicles damaged after a speeding luxury car, driven by a suspected drunk driver, rammed into them in Mumbai’s Versova area on Monday.
The incident took place around 8.30 pm between RTO lane and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Nagar in Versova, where the Jaguar rammed into eight other vehicles – including several four-wheelers, a two-wheeler, an auto and a bicycle – before coming to a halt.
Four people were injured in the mishap, out of which two were rushed to a hospital.
Locals thrashed the driver, identified as Hitesh Golecha, while he was trying to flee and damaged his car before handing him over to the police. He is the director of an air-conditioning company.
The 45-year-old was taken to the Cooper hospital, where he was made to undergo a medical examination to ascertain if he was driving under the influence of alcohol.
The accused did not have any documentation on him and empty syringes were reportedly recovered from the car. Police sources said the driver did not own the car and that it belonged to his relative.
The incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed nearby.Back to latest news
