3 women dead, one injured while crossing tracks between Malad and Kandivali stations
At least three women died, and one critically injured, after being hit by an outstation train near Malad on Saturday afternoon.
The incident took place around 1 pm today, when the Bandra-Indore express was enroute its destination in Madhya Pradesh. It had left Bandra around noon.
The mishap occurred when the women were crossing the tracks between Malad and Kandivali railway stations.
According to one source, all four women tried to cross the tracks despite the fast approaching train and got hit after failing to reach the other side on time. However, an official statement from the railway authorities is awaited.
Three women died on the spot, while one was critically injured. She has been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The deceased and the injured women are yet to be identified.

Update: “The incident took place between Goregaon and Malad stations. After completing their work, a few (railway) workers were going to Malad station when the Holiday special train hit the four ladies,” Purshottam Karad, DCP, Western Railway GRP said.
