7 Nigerians in possession of cocaine, meow meow arrested from Reay Road
The Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Mumbai Crime Branch on Saturday arrested seven Nigerian nationals, who were in possession of banned drugs worth Rs 4 lakh, from Reay Road in South Mumbai.
According to police sources, the ANC unit from Azad Maidan received a tip-off about the nationals, following which a team led by inspector Santosh Bhalekar laid a trap and apprehended the men while they were travelling near Reay Road railway station.
Officials also recovered 40 grams of Cocaine and 100 grams of Mephedrone (meow meow) from the Nigerian nationals.
All seven accused have been booked under sections sections 8 (c), 21, 22 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. They were produced before a magistrate’s court and remanded to police custody for a day.
Three of the accused already have a criminal record, and were out of bail. They were all arrested in a drug peddling case prior to this. If convicted, the accused face up to 20 year imprisonment.
The cops are now on the lookout for a person named ‘Michael’, who is reportedly believed to be their supplier.
