Aditya Narayan detained by Versova Police for crashing into auto at Lokhandwala, injuring two
Aditya Narayan, son of veteran singer Udit Narayan, was detained by Versova police station on Monday after being involved in a road mishap.
The actor-singer was detained after he hit a rickshaw from behind with his Mercedes in front of Indralok Building, Lokhandwala Back Road in Andheri West around noon. According to preliminary information, the accident took place when Narayan was taking a u-turn and misjudged the traffic.
The auto’s passenger, a lady, and the driver both sustained injuries in the mishap.
Following the accident, a case under section 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the 30-year-old.
Versova police is currently probing the case and further details are awaited.
The incident comes around 6 months after the ‘Ram Leela’ singer had allegedly misbehaved with IndiGo’s staff at Raipur airport.
The episode had taken place when Narayan, travelling on Raipur-Mumbai IndiGo flight 6E-258, used “unparliamentary language” with a female staff member of the airline.
IndiGo came out with its version after a video emerged showing Narayan engaged in an argument with its staff members at Raipur airport. The verbal altercation was triggered after Narayan was asked to pay for carrying excess baggage on-board.
Narayan later apologised to the ground staff, post which he was given his boarding card and allowed to leave.
His unruly behaviour, however, had not go down with members of the film fraternity, many of whom took to social media to criticise the singer.
Update: The injured passenger and driver were identified as Surekha Shivekar (32) and Rajkumar Palekar (64) respectively. They were taken to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital by Narayan himself.
Although it did not look like a case of drink and drive, the singer was taken for a medical examination by Versova police, following which he was granted bail and fined Rs 10,000.
