In a bid to make commuting easier for lakhs of office goers, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport (BEST) Undertaking has launched new AC feeder bus service connecting Mumbai Metro One’s WEH station with the business hub of Bandra Kurla Complex.

The new air-conditioned bus service between Western Express Highway station and BKC will offer point-to-point connectivity to and fro, as an improvement in the last mile connectivity.

The new feeder route of BEST, which started from Monday, will ensure smooth commuter movement from the Reliance Infra’s Mumbai Metro One stations to various commercial complexes in the city.

The hybrid-electric AC bus service will run at an interval of 40 minutes, making 12 trips from WEH Metro station to BKC Telephone Exchange from 8 am to 5.20 pm, and 11 trips from BKC Telephone Exchange to WEH Metro station from 8.40 am to 6 pm.

The BEST Number 16 service will connect key junctions like the domestic airport, Vakola Police Station, Kala Nagar and offers pickup-drop at commercial important points like Family Court, RBI, IT Building, ICICI Bank, Diamond Bourse, CitiBank and BKC Telephone Exchange, the termination point.

This service is expected to motivate more commuters to ditch their private cars and switch to public transport. Further, the price point of Rs 21-53 will make it more a more cost-effective means of travel compared to cars, taxis or autos.

Since the WEH Metro station attracts average 23,500 commuters daily, the company is promoting the BEST services in a big way on traditional and social media platforms.
