Car catches fire on Western Express Highway near Hub Mall, Goregaon
On Monday morning, a private vehicle caught fire on the Western Express Highway.
The black colored Toyota Corolla caught fire around 10:45 am on the southbound lane of the Western Express Highway near Hub Mall in Goregaon.
Owing to the relatively lower peak hour traffic on the southbound lane, the incident did not result in a massive traffic jam. However, motorists did face a 5-10 minute delay.
Fire tenders arrived at the spot around 11:15 am and firefighting is currently in progress. According to an onlooker, the driver left the vehicle before the car caught fire.
As of 11:15 am, no casualties have been reported. However, further details are awaited.
This is the second fire-related incident reported in Goregaon today. Earlier in the day, the basement of a building located inside Cama Industrial Estate had caught fire. No casualties were reported in the Cama Industrial Estate fire.
Update (11:45 am): Fire officials have managed to douse the fire. After the vehicle cools down, traffic police will remove it from the highway. The cause of fire is still unknown.
