Central line services delayed during peak hours due to fog at Kalyan-Dombivali
Less than 24 hours after Central line services were affected due to a minor derailment, trains on the route were running late again on Thursday morning due to fog at Kalyan and Dombivali in Thane district.
A thick cloud cover engulfed areas in and around the twin cities of Kalyan and Dombivali from as early as 6 am today. The shallow fog severely affected visibility in areas extending from Mumbra to Ambernath.
According to multiple commuters, both UP and DOWN locals on the Kalyan-CSMT route were affected due to the fogging during peak hours earlier today.
On average, trains on the route were running late by 15 minutes from 7:30 am. The delay persisted till 11 am.
While Central Railway did not make an official announcement about the delay, commuters were informed about the same via public announcement at Dombivali, Kalyan, and other stations.
Incidentally, some services were also delayed around 6:30 am when an outstation train – Vidharba Express – was given priority over a local heading towards CSMT.
Just yesterday, services on CR’s fast line had come to a halt after a bogey of a freight train derailed near Diva junction.
While the incident did not lead to any casualties, it affected the travel plans of thousands of commuters travelling during peak hours.
The traffic was moved to the slow line before being finally restored in the night.
Meanwhile, fog has also affected visibility on the roads in Thane and on the Mumbai-Pune expressway. However, no untoward incident has been reported.
