Late night on Friday, MIDC police found the body of a man and a woman in a rented flat in Andheri (East).

Residents of Dhanlaxmi Apartments in PMGP Colony at Mahakali Caves in Andheri (East) informed police about the foul stench emanating from room 1/B on the third floor of the building on Friday. Following which, MIDC police reached the spot to investigate.

When no one opened the door, police forced it open and discovered two bodies lying on the bed. Both man and woman did not have any external wounds or injuries, giving rise to speculation that the couple committed suicide.

The deceased are believed to be a married couple in their thirties. While the man has been identified as Advocate Rameshchandra Tiwari, the identity of the woman is currently unknown.

“Suicide is a likely possibility, but we are investigating other angles as well. Meanwhile, the decomposed bodies have been sent for post mortem examination. Once the report is ready, we will know the exact cause of death,” said an official from MIDC police station.

Meanwhile, police are trying to ascertain the identity of the other deceased and informing their next of kin. The owner of the flat, where the couple were staying, has also been notified and called in for questioning.

MIDC police has registered a case of accidental death.
