CR services affected after Kurla-Ambarnath local derail near Kalyan
Services on the Central line were affected after five coaches of Kurla-Ambarnath local derailed near Kalyan early morning on Thursday. No one was injured in the mishap.
The incident took place around 5:50 am, when the Kurla-bound local trail was between Kalyan and Vitthalwadi stations.
“The incident happened at 5.53 am on Karjat-bound line,” Central Railway said.
“Derailment of local train on Down Line between Kalyan and Vithalwadi station on Kalyan-Karjat route. Train movement disrupted. Restoration work underway.” said DRM Mumbai Central on Twitter.
Following the incident, services on the Kalyan-Karjat and Amabarnath-Karjat route were temporarily suspended. The services have now been restored. Kasara suburban services were not affected.
A heavy rush of passengers was observed at Kalyan station.
Meanwhile, on CR’s behest, the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) is running extra buses to ply commuters from Kalyan to Ambarnath or Kalyan to Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST).
A total of 17 buses have been pressed into service.
Due to the mishap, 12123/12124 CST-Pune Deccan Queen and 12127/12128 CST-Pune Intercity Express have been cancelled, while 22105 CST-Pune Indrayani Express, 11007 CST-Pune Deccan Express, 11029 CST-Kolhapur Koyna Express, 11010 Pune-CST Sinhagad Express were diverted via Diva-Panvel-Karjat.
Just yesterday, 15 coaches of Sealdah-Ajmer Express derailed near Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh injuring around 60 people. Railway authorities are yet to confirm what triggered the derailment, although it is suspected to have been caused due to a rail fracture.
