Fire breaks out in Bandra highrise, former home of Sachin Tendulkar, Aishwarya Rai

A fire broke out in a residential building in suburban Bandra on Tuesday afternoon. As of publishing this report, the blaze has been put out and no one was reported injured in the mishap.

The fire broke out in the La Mer Building, located near Mount Mary steps at Kadeshwari Mandir Marg in Bandra West.

According to preliminary information, the blaze started around 12:40 pm today, and fire department was alerted about the incident immediately after the incident.

Within minutes, six fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the blaze was bought under control. No casualties were reported due to the mishap.

The fire originated on the 13th floor of the high rise. However, the cause of fire is yet to be determined as a statement from the fire department about the same is still awaited.

The building has been home to several celebrities. It’s former occupants include cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Adman Prahlad Kakkar also resides on the second floor of the building.

Since Aishwarya’s parents still live in the building, she and husband Abhishek arrived at the spot to take stock of the situation.
