Fire breaks out at Modi Dyeing factory in Bhiwandi
A massive fire broke out at a fabric processing unit at Ajanta Compound in the powerloom town of Bhiwandi in Thane district on Friday afternoon.
“A massive fire broke out at a fabric sizing company located at Dhamankar naka around 1.45 pm today,” a police officer from Bhiwandi told PTI.
Six fire tenders have been rushed to the spot to douse the fire.
“The blaze has spread through the entire complex of the unit. Fire engines from Bhiwandi, Thane, Kalyan and Ulhasnagar have been rushed to the scene. Water tankers have also been roped in,” the officer added.
Personnel of Bhoiwada police station and fire brigade are engaged in the firefighting and rescue operation.
According to news agency ANI, the blaze started at Modi Dyeing factory. However, a final confirmation from the fire department is awaited.
So far, no casualty has been reported, the police officer said.
