Firing on ex-MLA’s car in Kurla, bodyguard injured
A 38-year-old man fired multiple rounds at ex-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Milind Kamble’s car at Kurla on Friday evening.
The incident occurred around 5 pm at an under construction site near Pragati Society at Nehru Nagar in Kurla, where the MLA’s white Fortuner was being driven. At the moment, it is not clear whether Kamble was in the car at the time of firing.
The accused shot four rounds at the car, which hit Kamble’s bodyguard Anil Laxman Bhise (49). The injured bodyguard was rushed to Rajawadi hospital and later transferred to Sion Hospital, where he is currently recuperating. Bhise is a resident of Qureshi Nagar, Kurla.
The accused, identified as Mangesh Shankar Waghmare, worked as a driver with Kamble. He is currently on the run.
Nehru Nagar police has booked a case against the Waghmare under relevant sections of the Indian Penal code and are on the lookout for him. Police are currently probing into what might have prompted the driver to attack the ex-MLA.
