Kalyan, Dombivli streets to get state of the art 360-degree cameras
A senior traffic official has confirmed that the twin-cities of Kalyan and Dombivali will soon get 360-degree cameras as a part of their new surveillance system.
According to the official, the cameras will be installed at busy locations across the cities and will be monitored realtime. Unlike conventional cameras, the 360-degree variants are more expensive, but cover a wider area thereby eliminating the need for multiple cameras.
The city authorities will follow a more holistic approach, as the same surveillance system will aid police, traffic police, Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) and other agencies.
The CCTV monitoring system will most likely be installed at Kalyan DCP’s office. Authorised personnel will be able to review footage from any camera across the city from there.
The new system will serve a dual purpose of monitoring unlawful activity and serving as evidence when such cases reach the court. The real-time monitoring will also help authorities take actions pre-emptively.
The KDMC will primarily use the system to effectively address disaster management related cases in the city.
