KEM hospital ward boy arrested for recording doctors in changing room
Bhoiwada police on Monday arrested a ward boy of KEM hospital for allegedly placing his cellphone in women’s changing room and recording videos of unsuspecting doctors.
The accused would reportedly start the recording mode of his cell phone camera and sneakily place it somewhere inside the changing room used by women doctors.
The incident came to light on Monday when a female doctor was searching for her misplaced shirt. While rummaging through a box, she found a cellphone and noticed that it was on recording mode. The doctor exited the application and went through the phone, only to find more clips from the changing room. Some, even featured her colleagues.
In a state of shock, the doctor threw the cellphone and approached her senior. Meanwhile, the accused recovered the phone and headed to the bathroom to check the clip. By that time, the staff was informed about his deed and they apprehended him as soon as he came out. He was later handed over to the police.
Bhoiwada police took the accused, identified as Chaman Chauhan, into custody and booked him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
According to a report in a leading daily, police regularly hold meetings with hospital staffers giving them suggestions and educating them about women’s safety. Following the incident, officials from Bhoiwada police station will conduct another session with the staff to ensure such incidents are not repeated.
