Man who threw daughter in Badlapur river arrested
On Tuesday, Vartak Nagar police arrested the man who threw her daughter inside Ulhas river in Badlapur last week.
On June 30, a security guard of a construction company situated near the Ulhas river at Badlapur spotted a girl clinging onto a water hyacinth. Since the guard couldn’t reach the girl on his own, he alerted local fire brigade officials and police station. The girl was rescued around 7 am and sent to a local hospital for treatment.
When cops questioned the minor, identified as Ekta Saini, about how she fell, she claimed that her father and his friend threw her into the river. According to a police official, the girl’s father allegedly lured her under the pretence of buying new footwear. After bringing her to Badlapur, he pushed her in the river around 8 pm on Wednesday night.
Following her statement, Vartak Nagar police launched a manhunt to catch the girl’s father and his friend. After searching for five days, police finally managed to nab the girl’s father. His friend, however, is still absconding.
During investigation, the father, Vartak Nagar police, confessed that Ekta was his step-daughter and he disliked her. His hatred towards the 10-year-old prompted him to take the step.
Tulsiram is currently in police custody and will be produced before a magistrate soon. Meanwhile, cops are still on the lookout for his friend.
