Massive fire breaks out at fish market near CST station, Mumbai
A massive fire broke out in a fish market near the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) railway station on Thursday evening.
According to preliminary information, the blaze started around 4:45 pm in a BMC building which houses the fish market. The building is located near Manish Market at CST.
The fire department was alerted immediately following the incident.
At of 5 pm, two fire tenders are on spot trying to douse the flames.
Local police and an ambulance have also arrived at the scene. Owing to the heavy inflow of vehicles on the busy road, traffic on the arterial road has come to a halt.
The area is full of crowded busy lanes and a nightmare for fire tenders. A few years back, properties worth over Rs 100 crore were gutted in a fire incident.
Details regarding casualties, if any, and cause of fire are awaited.
Update (5:30 pm): The fire is under control. No casualties reported till now.
