Parel man arrested for sexually assaulting 4-year-old neighbour

On Saturday evening, Mumbai police arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting her minor neighbour.
The four-year-old girl was playing outside her house in the afternoon when the accused took notice of her and invited her to his house. He allegedly lured her under the guise of giving her a new toy to play with.
The girl, who knew the accused and referred to as ‘uncle’, agreed to it. Following which, the accused sexually assaulted her twice. The girl was let go after a few minutes.
The girl stayed on the ground floor of a residential building on Senapati Bapat Marg, while the accused stayed on the first floor with his wife. His wife was not home at the time of the incident.
When the girl didn’t return home after playing, the girl’s mother got worried and started searching for her. When she finally found the victim, she was crying uncontrollably. Upon questioning, the minor confessed what the ‘uncle’ had done.
The mother immediately approached N M Joshi Marg police station and filed a complaint.
An official from N M Joshi Marg police said, “We immediately sent the girl for a medical test to confirm if she had been sexually assaulted. Once the tests confirmed the same, we arrested the accused immediately.”
The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He has been remanded in police custody until July 13.
