The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Mumbai Customs on Sunday detained a passenger at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport and seized 11 pieces of the newly launched iPhone X.

The passenger, identified as Bhavesh Ravjibhai Virani, was travelling from Hong Kong to India on Saturday.

A search of his check-in baggage led to the recovery of 11 mobile phones, reportedly valued at Rs 10,57,388 in the market.

The Customs official said, “We are in the process of finding the reason as to why was he was carrying the phones.”

A case has been registered in this regard.

The highly anticipated Apple iPhone X was launched in India yesterday at prices starting from Rs 89,000 and going over Rs 1 lakh.
