On Monday, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu visited the city to inaugurate a host of new facilities on Mumbai suburban railway stations.
The new facilities range from free wi-fi to new toilets and foot-over-bridges to new booking officers across stations on Western, Central and Harbour lines.
Prabhu inaugurated the facilities from Yogi Sabagruha Hall in Dadar (East) today. The function, which started at 11:15 am, was attended by various leaders and dignitaries including, Ramdas Athawale, Vinod Tawde, Eknath Shinde, Divakar Raote, Prakash Mehta, Snehal Ambekar, Kirit Somaiya, Ashish Shelar, Rahul Shewale and more.
The list of newly inaugurated facilities include:
# Wi-fi facility at Churchgate, Bandra, Khar Road, Kalyan, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Dadar (CR), Bandra Terminus and Dadar (WR)
# Foot-over-bridge at Karjat, Shahad, Kurla, King’s Circle, Reay Road and Chembur
# AC dormitory at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus
# Water recycling plant at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus
# Bio-toilet for differently abled persons at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus
# Deluxe toilet at Kurla and Thane stations
# Garden in Dadar at CSR
# ‘Namma’ toilet at Khar Road
# Pay & Use toilet in Mahalaxmi
# New toilet at Kalyan and Govandi stations
# Ground+2 building with new booking office at Borivali
# Foot-over-bridge and escalator at Nalasopara and Vasai Road
# Booking offices at Nalasopara and Goregaon (north end)
Apart from inaugurating the facilities, the minister also dedicated the new foot-over-bridges, conversion of all Harbour line rakes to 12-coach, two new 12-coach platforms, two lifts at Andheri and booking office at Goregaon.
