Shah Rukh, MP Poonam Mahajan inaugurate Rouble Nagi’s #Bandra artwork
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Member of Parliament Poonam Mahajan on Tuesday inaugurated the first of its kind structure, #Bandra, created by artist Rouble Nagi.
Nagi, an activist and founder of Rouble Nagi Art Foundation, created the artwork in association with Mumbai Youth Forum.
Installed at Bandra Reclamation, the #Bandra is the first ‘hashtag’ public art installation in Maharashtra.
From one angle, an image of Dadasaheb Phalke inspecting a film reel can be seen in the backdrop of the #Bandra artwork, a picture that perfectly encapsulates a blend of the suburb’s envious heritage and modern outlook.
Apart from this, Bandra is adorned with some of Nagi’s other artworks, which include ‘Journey through the ocean’ – a sculpture done in Mosaic and mix media at Carter Road, ‘Pop Garden’ – a mix media installation at Worli Seaface and ‘Tree of Life’ – a mosaic mural sculpture at Hill Road.
Both Mahajan, national president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) and Shah Rukh, an ardent Bandraite, have been actively involved with promoting local causes concerning the suburb.
Back in October, the two, along with MLA Ashish Shelar, had also lent their support to Bandra Bandstand beautification project.
“Inaugurated #Bandra with @ShelarAshish & @iamsrk 1st of its kind structure made by artist @ROUBLENAGI in association with Mumbai Youth Forum,” Mahajan tweeted after the inauguration.
