A massive fire broke out in a commercial building located opposite Vashi Railway Station in Navi Mumbai on Monday afternoon.

According to preliminary information, the fire broke out around 2 pm in one of the top floors of Proxima building, which houses Arunachal Bhawan and Kalyan Jewellers (on the ground floor).

The building is located next to Raghuleela Mall, opposite Vashi Railway Station in Sector 30, Vashi, Navi Mumbai.

Fire department was alerted about the mishap immediately and three fire engines, along with other emergency vehicles, reached the spot in minutes. Fire fighting is underway as of publishing this report.

The building has been evacuated and no casualties have been reported till now. The cause of the fire is unknown and more details are awaited.

The incident comes days after two back-to-back fire related incidents took place in industrial units located at Navi Mumbai’s Taloja and Airoli areas.

Update: The fire was brought under control by 3 pm and extinguishing operation is currently underway. The cause of fire is still not known. No one was injured in the mishap.
