Last week, a disturbing video of an unidentified man mercilessly throwing a dog from the roof of a building had gone viral on social networking site Facebook.

The video featured a man in white shirt with a smirk on his face standing on the terrace of a building while holding a dog. Seconds after the video began, the man caught the dog by his neck and threw him off the roof.

The video was posted by an animal lover, Sreelesh B, on Facebook. Sreelesh, who came across the video via WhatsApp, posted the video on the social networking site with the intention of seeking help from people to identify the culprit.

As soon as the video caught the attention of the Humane Society International (HSI) team in India, a bounty of Rs 1 lakh was announced for any information that would lead to the arrest of the culprit.

Late night on Monday, a person posted on Facebook that the man featuring in the video was a final year MBBS student from Madha Medical College in Chennai. The person identified the culprit as Gautam S.

According to his FB post, the video was taken 2 weeks back and Gautam had allegedly warned fellow students against revealing his identity.

As of Tuesday, an FIR has been lodged against the culprit at a local police station. Meanwhile, police are trying to locate and arrest the accused.
