Not just artistes, every Pakistani citizen must condemn Uri attack: Rishi Kapoor
Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor feels not only artistes but every citizen of Pakistan should condemn the Uri attack where 19 Indian soldiers were martyred.
The 64-year-old actor said by keeping quiet about the dreadful attack on Indian soldiers last month, Pakistan in a way is confirming that they are terrorists.
“Think. Why only Pakistani artists should condemn the terrorist attack? Whole of Pakistan should. After all they deny any hand in the Uri attack,” Kapoor posted on Twitter.
“By not condemning and keeping quiet, you are confirming Pakistan as being the terrorists. Pakistan, if you are not guilty, condemn them! Simple.”
Replying to a Twitter user, Kapoor said that every person should condemn terrorism collectively.
“Absolutely agree. Therefore we should all unitedly condemn terrorism. Some from Pakistan reacted wrongly as what I tried to say. I am for peace,” he posted.
Meanwhile, Pakistani singer Shafqat Amanat Ali has come forward as the first artiste from the neighbouring country to publicly condemn the Uri terror attack.
Shafqat, whose concert in Bengaluru was cancelled last month following the terror strike, told a news channel, “It is a terror attack and I condemn it, I strongly condemn it.”
When asked why other Pakistani artistes haven’t condemned the attack, the singer said, “As far as I know, Pakistani actors condemn any kind of attack which happens in any part of the world which is against any country because we have been suffering for so many years.
“We know how it feels when your soldier or civilian dies. So, I don’t think any of them would say this (Uri) was right.”
