There is now a Qawwali on Vijay Mallya!
Vijay Mallya has always been a darling of the media – in the past because of his ultra-luxurious lifestyle and now because of the thousands of crores he owes in debts.
Earlier this week, the liquor baron proposed to make a part payment of Rs. 4000 crores towards the Rs. 7000 crores he owes banks. This made Mallya a subject of mockery on Twitter with the hashtag #bargainlikeabaron trending for hours on end.
If that wasn’t enough, comedy group ‘SnG’ has released a news report in the form of a qawwali about Mallya on YouTube. In the video, the group takes a jab at everything from Mallya’s extravagant lifestyle and playboy image to his shady dealings with banks and failure to pay Kingfisher Airlines employees.
SnG’s qawwali is a shrewd rendition of 1977’s popular qawwali track ‘Parda Hai Parda’ from the movie Amar Akbar Anthony. The hilarious parody titled ‘Karza Hai’ manages to accurately sum up Mallya’s current state of affairs.
