Rahul Raj Singh arrested for drunk driving, female friend threatens cops

Actor Rahul Raj Singh, boyfriend of late television actress Pratyusha Banerjee, found himself on the wrong side of law once again on Sunday night, when he was arrested and booked for driving under the influence and without license in Santacruz.
The Santacruz division of the city’s traffic police, along with officials from the local police unit, were conducting a nakabandi at at Gajdhar Bandh in Santacruz (West) on Sunday night. They stopped Singh’s car like everyone else’s, only to find that he had been drinking under under the influence of alcohol.
According to preliminary information, Singh’s blood-alcohol level was way above the prescribed limit and he was driving without a valid license, following which he was taken to the police station.
“Singh was accompanied by Saloni Sharma. She was arguing with the police to not take action, else she would complain to the superiors,” said Mumbai police spokesperson DCP Ashok Dudhe.
Meanwhile, Santacruz police registered a case against Singh for drunk driving and arrested him. His vehicle was also impounded by the traffic police officials.
He will be produced in a metropolitan court today.
Singh has had multiple run-ins with the law over the last year. He was earlier charged with abetment of suicide in the Pratyusha Banerjee suicide case and is currently out on bail.
Earlier this month, a model accused him of molesting her at a popular restaurant in Andheri. The case is still being investigated by Amboli police.
