Tusshar Kapoor welcomes a baby boy
On Monday, Bollywood actor Tusshar Kapoor became a single father to a son born through IVF and surrogacy. The boy was born last week and has been named Laksshya.
Tusshar, son of veteran actor Jeetendra, announced the news in a statement that read, “I am thrilled to be a father! The paternal instincts in me have been overpowering my heart and mind for some time now. Therefore, I am thrilled beyond words to have Laksshya, now the greatest source of joy in my life.”
The ‘Golmaal’ actor also added, “By the greatness of god and the excellent medical team at Jaslok (hospital), parenthood is an option for many, who choose to be single parents.”
Tusshar’s parents, Shobha and Jeetendra, also issued a joint statement expressing their joy, “We could not be more excited to be grandparents to Laksshya, and are completely supportive of Tusshar’s decision. This is certainly a tremendous blessing, and an exciting time in our lives. Tusshar is a wonderful son, and he has proven with responsibility, independence, and kindness that he will be a great father to Laksshya.”
The IVF treatment was headed by Firuza Parikh, Director of IVF & Genetics at the Jaslok Hospital. The doctor admits that more and more singles are getting approved for parenthood and becoming parents via this route.
While talking to a leading daily, he thanked Tusshar for his bold decision, hoping that it will open doors for many others who might have any apprehensions or stigma around it. In the first few days itself, the doctor was certain that Tusshar would take a keen interest in the child’s upbringing and be a nurturing parent.
Apart from Tusshar, Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao have had their son Azad Rao Khan via surrogacy and SRK and Gauri Khan’s third child Abram was also born through surrogacy.
