HSC Paper Leak: Coaching class teacher, 3 students arrested in connection with leaking papers
Vashi police have arrested four people, including a coaching class teacher, in the last 24 hours in connection with leaking the HSC question papers on WhatsApp and social media.
The first arrest in the case was made around 9 pm on Sunday, when two students were held for their involvement in leaking papers.
“We have arrested two students, who are in the first and second years of their graduation. They are the part of the trail of the forwarded messages. We are yet to trace the origin of the messages. They are accused of forwarding the message,” DCP (Zone I) Prashant Khaire, Navi Mumbai Police, said.
Those arrested have been identified as Azaruddin Kamaruddin Shaikh (20) and Rahul Bachelal Bhaskar (22). Both are currently pursuing their B.COM and are residents of Malvani, Malad.
Around 3:30 am on Monday, Vashi police arrested two more individuals in connection with the case.
They have been identified as Mohammad Aman Mohammad Islam Shaikh (19), an HSC external student, and Suresh Vimalchand Jha (26), a tutor at a private coaching class. Both are residents of Kandivali (E).
All four accused have been booked under sections 5 and 6 of the Maharashtra Prevention of Malpractices at University, Board & Other Specified Exams Act, 1982 and section 66A(a) of the IT Act.
They will be produced before the court for remand today.
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE), which conducts Class 12 examinations, filed an FIR with Vashi Police on Friday after its officials found that the Marathi paper, held on Thursday, was leaked before the exam.
On Saturday, a second FIR was filed after the Secretarial Practice question paper also surfaced minutes before the exam.
