Mumbai Police’s tweet to actor Varun Dhawan

In a bid to prove that rules are same for everyone, Mumbai traffic police is set to issue an e-challan to actor Varun Dhawan, who allegedly violated a traffic rule by taking a selfie with a fan in traffic.

The ‘Judwaa 2’ actor had earlier surprised one of his fans by taking an impromptu selfie with her. But little did the actor know that the seemingly innocent gesture will land him in trouble with the cops.

The female fan, travelling in a rickshaw, was struck in a traffic jam in suburban Mumbai when she noticed the actor in the adjoining car. When she tried to click his picture, Dhawan asked her to give him the phone so he could take a selfie with her.

The picture was captured by a photojournalist and carried in a leading tabloid today.

While female fans gushed over Dhawan’s act, cops were less than impressed with the apparent traffic violation and decided to send him an e-challan for it.

Mumbai police, via their official Twitter handle, also urged the actor to be a responsible Mumbaikar henceforth to avoid facing a harsher action next time.

“@Varun_dvn These adventures surely work on D silver screen but certainly not on the roads of Mumbai! U have risked ur life,ur admirer’s & few others. V expect better from a responsible Mumbaikar & youth icon like U! An E-Challan is on d way 2 ur home. Next time, V will B harsher (sic)” the tweet read.

Update: In a response to the cops, the 30-year-old acknowledged his fault and assured that he won’t encourage this in future.
