Massive fire breaks out near SCLR, Kurla
A massive fire broke out near Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) in Mumbai’s Kurla area on Friday evening. No one was reported injured as of publishing this.
Details:
Location: According to preliminary information, the blaze broke out in a heap of scrap/garbage at New Mill road near SCLR in Kurla West.
Time: The mishap took place around 5 pm today evening.
Severity: Due to the intensity of the fire, the entire area was engulfed in a thick cover of black smoke. Officials from the fire department have reached the spot and at least three fire engines have been pressed into service to douse the flames.
Casualties & damage: No casualties have been reported so far.
Current status: Fire fighting is underway as of publishing this report. More emergency vehicles are likely to be dispatched to control the blaze. Meanwhile, traffic police are trying to control the traffic situation as the movement of traffic towards BKC is affected.
Cause of fire: An eye-witness has said that the fire started after someone burned a pile of garbage or scrap. However, the flames soon got out of hand and spread in a wider acrea. The fire department is yet to confirm the same.
