BMC chief in Russia to attract investment, will highlight pro-business outlook of Mumbai
Amid all the controversies plaguing the city’s civic body, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) chief Ajoy Mehta is set to visit Russia in a bid to attract investments in the city.
Mehta is accompanying Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on a three day tour to Russia where he will be presenting the avenues of investments in Mumbai to hundreds of Russian industrialists.
The key facet of Mehta’s presentation at the ‘Magnetic Maharashtra’ event in St Petersburg will be to highlight the investment opportunities in the city while detailing how the city’s civic body can help business owners by extending various services towards them.
According to a senior BMC official, who wished to remain unnamed, Mehta asked senior officials to prepare a presentation about the work carried out by the civic body on Friday. Major achievements of departments like education, disaster management, waste management etc were included in the presentation.
The IT department reportedly worked on preparing the presentation, wherein data from ‘selective’ departments was taken to showcase the efficiency with which the BMC operates. Mehta will also be carrying the short film about the city’s investment potential prepared during the Make in India’s Maharashtra chapter.
