Top floor of Pathare House building in Girgaon collapses, 3 feared trapped
On Saturday, a part of a three-storey building in Girgaon collapsed on the adjacent building, causing three persons to get trapped in the debris.
The incident occurred around 8:30 am on Saturday morning, when the top floor of the three-storey Pathare House collapsed. The building is located on V.P Road near Kennedy Bridge in Bhatwadi, Girgaon.
By 9 am, four brigades and three ambulances reached the spot. As of 9:40, rescue operations are still underway.
No casualties have been reported till now.
In a similar incident, six people had lost their lives after a three-storeyed building on R.S Nimkar Marg in Kamathipura had collapsed on April 30. The century old Gulmohar building was undergoing repair work when the incident happened.

Update (10:15 am): All three persons who were trapped inside the debris were rescued successfully by fire brigade officials. No casualties have been reported.
Update (11:35 am): The debris, some of which fell on the neighbouring Bhansali Building, is being cleared.
Update (12:30 pm): The building has been evacuated and MHADA officials are on the spot to ascertain if the structure is fit for habitation. A MHADA official, after a preliminary investigation, said the heavy downpour over the last 48 hour period might have led to the collapse.
