In Pictures: Helicopter carrying 4 crashes in Aarey Colony, Goregaon
A Robinson R44 helicopter carrying four crashed and caught fire in Aarey Colony near Royal Palms in Goregaon, Mumbai on Sunday afternoon. The chopper had taken off from Juhu.
According to preliminary information, the incident took place around 12:15 pm when the chopper crashed in the Filter Pada area of Aarey Colony. The cause of the accident is not known.
Local residents alerted police and fire department after they spotted smoke from the crash site. Following which, three fire engines, two ambulance and a team of local police officials rushed to the spot.
The firemen doused the flames and rescued the four passengers who were travelling in the helicopter. The injured were subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital.
According to sources, the pilot lost his life and three are currently undergoing treatment. Details about their current condition are awaited.
The identities of all four passengers is not known at the moment.
The VT-PHB chopper was originally owned by Pawan Hans and later sold to Aman Aviation & Aerospace Solutions Pvt. Ltd. The company used it for joyrides.

Update (2 pm): The pilot, male, has succumbed to his injuries. The other crew member and passengers are still being treated. The chopper has been completely gutted in the fire.
Update (2:45 pm): The crew and other passengers are being treated at Seven Hills hospital. All three are being treated for multiple wounds and burn injuries.
Update (3:30 pm): The deceased pilot has been identified as Prafulkumar Mishra. Others were identified as Sanjiv Shankar, Ritesh Modiand Vrinda Modi. The chopper is believed to have crashed due to mechanical reasons.
