Video: Massive fire breaks out at Bhiwandi warehouse, goods worth lakhs destroyed
Two weeks after a fire broke out at a dyeing factory, another massive blaze engulfed a warehouse located in the powerloom town of Bhiwandi in Thane district on Saturday morning.
The blaze started around 5 am at the Citi Solutions Warehouse located opposite Grand Bee Hotel on NH-3 Highway near Raj Laxmi complex in Vadape Village, Bhiwandi.
According to preliminary information, the warehouse was being used for storing tyres and paper.
The first call made to the fire department around 5:19 am, following which two fire engines from Bhiwandi, and one each from Thane, Kalyan and Ulhasnagar arrived on the spot along with six water tankers.
The fire fighting began around 5:40 am. However, due to the sheer size of the warehouse, the fire department took over six hours to douse the flames.
While no casualties have been reported till now, goods worth lakhs are believed to have been destroyed in the blaze.
The fire department is yet to issue a statement about the cause of fire. Further details are awaited.
In a similar incident, a massive fire had engulfed a fabric sizing company located at Dhamankar naka in Bhiwandi earlier this month. No one was injured due to the mishap.
