Fake doctor arrested for causing patient’s death in Deonar
Deonar police on Friday arrested a fake doctor for causing the death of a 25-year-old patient, who allegedly died due an infection caused by an injection given to him.
According to police, the patient, Pradip Aananda Jadhav, had visited the clinic of “doctor” Shahbaz Alam Siddhiqui (36) at Deonar in eastern suburbs on November 5 as he was suffering from fever.
Siddhiqui administered an injection to Jadhav, a daily wage worker, and sent him home.
The next day he again went to Siddhiqui with complaint of pain at the spot where injection was administered. The doctor told him not to worry and that the pain will go away in a few days. But Jadhav’s condition did not improve.
On November 8, Jadhav was taken to civic-run hospitals but they did not admit him as his condition from the infection had worsened.
He was rejected by at least three civic hospitals and was lastly taken to the KEM Hospital in Parel, Central Mumbai, where he was declared dead before admission.
After his demise, Jadhav’s family members filed a complaint with the police, following which cops started probing the case.
Investigation revealed Jadhav’s death was caused allegedly due to wrong injection given by Siddhiqui, senior Inspector Datta Shinde of the Deonar Police Station told PTI.
Police also found that Siddhiqui did not have any medical degree and subsequently booked him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Maharashtra Medical Practitioners Act.
The accused had only studied till class 12 and was displaying his brother’s Unani medicine degree in his dispensary.
He was arrested on Friday and produced in Kurla court, which remanded him to police custody till November 15.
