TMC employee rams bike into parked dumper, dies
A Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) employee died after he rammed his bike into a parked dumper in Thane early morning on Wednesday.
The incident took place around 7 am at the Cadbury Junction at Samata Nagar in Thane West.
According to a Thane traffic police official, the driver of the dumper (MH-43-Y-3628) had parked the vehicle at the side of the road after one of its tyres had got punctured.
The TMC employee, identified as Sunil Chile, failed to notice its muddied indicator light and rammed his bike (MH-04-HR-1881) into it. The impact of the collision caused the speeding bike to get hurled on top of the dumper.
Chile was immediately rushed to the nearby Jupital Hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, the driver and cleaner of the dumper tried to flee, albeit unsuccessfully.
Despite the fact that the dumper was parked on the side of the road when the incident took place, the duo was reportedly held responsible for not warning oncoming motorists or putting up barricades and informing the traffic division.
They were subsequently booked under sections 134 and 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act Indian and 283 (danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code.
Both are currently in police custody.
