Cops visit Sonakshi Sinha’s Juhu residence in alleged cheating case
The Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday visited the residence of Sonakshi Sinha in Juhu in connection with a cheating case registered against the Bollywood actor last year.
The complaint was filed by an event organiser named Pramod Sharma, who alleged that the actress took a booking amount of Rs 24 lakhs for performing at an event in New Delhi in September 2018, but failed to show up at the last minute.
The complained was filed in Moradabad in February 2018, following which officials booked the actor and four others under sections 420 (cheating) and 406 of the Indian Penal Code.
A team from UP police, along with officials from Juhu police station, visited the actor’s house yesterday to take her statement in the case. However, they had to return empty handed as Sonakshi wasn’t home at the time.
They are expected to visit her house again today.
Meanwhile, Sonakshi’s spokesperson has refuted Sharma’s allegations and called them ‘baseless’.
“In her nine years long career, she has only worked with complete honesty and sincerity. What this man is accusing her of is completely untrue and baseless. This is just a way of extortion by maligning her spot free reputation in the press and it is not something that Sonakshi and her team will succumb to,” the spokesperson told Mumbai Mirror.
“She is a thorough professional and we have been more than cooperative with whichever authorities that have gotten in touch with us because we have nothing to hide,” the spokesperson added.
