Two men arrested for posing as cops, robbing IT professional on gunpoint in Navi Mumbai

Police have arrested two persons who allegedly posed as cops and robbed an IT professional of Rs 86,000 cash at gunpoint in Navi Mumbai.
The incident took place at a parking area near Nerul railway station on August 12.
According to officials, when the victim was about to get in his car, the duo approached him and claimed they were policemen. They later pointed a gun at him and demanded money.
When the IT professional refused to budge, the accused allegedly assaulted him and fled after robbing him of Rs 86,000 cash. The victim later filed a complaint with Navi Mumbai police.
During the investigation, cops were tipped off about the whereabouts of the accused, following a team was dispatched to arrest the accused.
On Sunday, officials nabbed Shubam Subash Patil (24), an auto-rickshaw driver, and his accomplice Vishal More (19), from Ajiwali village in Panvel taluka of Raigad.
During their questioning, it came to light that the accused had also allegedly stolen Rs 2.5 lakh from a computer shop in Navi Mumbai’s Kharghar area in March this year.
The accused have been booked under Indian Penal Code Sections 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery), 170 (personating a public servant) and 34 (common intention).
