Uddhav Thackeray, son Aaditya visit Sharad Pawar’s residence for late-night meet
The hour-long meeting took place barely hours after the statesman returned from Delhi, where he was holding talks with the Congress’ top brass over the alliance with Sena
Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and his son, newly-elected MLA Aaditya, met NCP president Sharad Pawar late on Thursday night.
The over an hour-long meeting took place at Pawar’s residence in Mumbai, barely hours after the statesman returned from Delhi after a discussion with Congress.
Apart from the Thackerays and Pawar, NCP leader Ajit Pawar and Sena MP Sanjay Raut was also present at the meeting. However, no Congress leader was present.
The Sena, after ending the alliance with BJP, is seeking the support of NCP and Congress to form government in the state.
“Since it was a meeting between top leaders, only they will know what transpired there. But the discussion is likely to have revolved around giving final touches to sharing of posts in the government,” an NCP leader was quoted as saying.
Earlier in the day, Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan said his party and the NCP have “complete unanimity” on all issues concerning government formation in Maharashtra and will now hold talks with the Shiv Sena to “finalise the architecture of the alliance”.
Senior Congress and NCP leaders are scheduled to meet their other pre-poll allies – Peasants Workers Party, Samajwadi Party, Swabhimani Paksh and CPI(M) – before holding a final round of talks with the Sena.
Uddhav too is scheduled to address a meeting of party MLAs and senior leaders today during which he is likely to brief them on the finer details of the proposed tri-party alliance.
According to sources, the three parties could make a formal announcement later today about joining hands under the banner of “MahaVikasAghadi” and staking claim to form a government in the state.
